Unfit for service from pulmonary consumption, the result of wounds and exposure while on active service in the Crimea and while a prisoner in Russia. Received violent blows on the chest with the butt end of a musket on the 22nd March 1855 during a sortie made by the enemy at Sebastopol. Suffered subsequently from acute pneumonia which has terminated in tubercular deposit in the lungs. This disease must materially interfere with his earning a livelihood.
Unfit for further service from consumption and gunshot wound. Dated Dublin 30 March 1857.
