Rendered unfit for further service from gun shot wound of the back received on 8th Sep. The ball entered the posterior and upper part of Illium right side about 4 inches from spine, took a direction to left side & was extracted same day, 2 inches from spine. Illium was fractured, & some exfoliation of bone followed. Has backaches & slight numbness of right leg. Received same day a slight gun shot fleck. Wounds of right calf.
24 days hospital treatment. Unfit for further service [Chatham 10 Jany 1856].
